Glow in the Dark

Green Europium Phosphorescent Glow in the Dark Powder - Chemistry Sample

$9.99

What you will receive:

You will receive a 1.8ml glass vial of high quality europium based phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark powder as seen in pictures

The Facts:

• Produces a beautiful true green glow color.

•Great chemistry gift

• Great for Halloween costumes or Halloween decorations.

• It is a difficult and expensive glow material to make due to the high cost of the exotic chemicals

• Based on the Rare-Earth element Europium

• Europium powder can be recharged indefinitely just by holding it under bright light. Unlike other glow in the darks. 30 hours of glow time after being fully charged.

DISCLAIMER ABOUT PICTURES:

•The pictures here do NOT do the glow justice, for the camera can not pick it all the light like our eyes can.

•The first picture shows a fully charged Vial of power in the dark

•The other pictures shows the powder uncharged.

Back to the facts

•This Phosphorescent material is at the cutting edge of chemical phosphorescent technology.

•This is not a cheap weak Chinese glow powder that wont glow a week from now.

•This is high quality yet affordable phosphorescent powder.

•This sample is great for fun science experiments and Collections

Uses:

•The powder can be mixed with anything from clear paint, to wax, nail polish, gel, plastics, glaze, the possibilities are endless.

•Use in non-water based paint.

• There is great succuss is since it is a powder it needs to be sprinkled on to wet nail polish and then after it dries add another coat to protect it from chipping away.

•Paint over a white back ground which will enhance the visible glow. Painting glow paint over a black or dark surface will reduce the visible glow dramatically.

•The Europium powder is quite heat resistant. It can be mixed with glaze and fired in kilns to make pottery & ceramic items alike. Its temperature limit is about 1,200°F or 648.90°C

Safety / Caution:

Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest. Non toxic, Non radioactive, although it is not considered toxic do not ingest or inhale or ingest the powder.

Potential Health Effects

----------------------------------

Inhalation:

May cause mild irritation to the respiratory tract.

Ingestion:

Corrosive material. Will react immediately with saliva to cause burns and possible local combustion.
Skin Contact:
May cause mild irritation and redness.

Eye Contact:

May cause mild irritation, possible reddening.

Chronic Exposure:

Long-term exposure to photoluminescent powder dust may result in mild fibrosis (scarring of the lungs).
Aggravation of Pre-existing Conditions:
Persons with pre-existing lung disease may be more susceptible to the effects of this substance.

IV. First Aid Measures

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air. Get medical attention for any breathing difficulty.

Ingestion:

Not expected to require first aid measures. If large amounts were swallowed, give water to drink and get medical advice.
Skin Contact:
Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation develops. Eye Contact:

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting upper and lower eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

V Fire Fighting Measures

Fire:

Not considered to be a fire hazard.

Explosion:

Not considered to be an explosion hazard.

Fire Extinguishing Media:

Use dry soda ash, dry salt, sand, graphite powder or metal-fire-extinguishing dry powder such as Met-L-X(R). Do not use water.
Special Information:
In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure mode.

VI. Accidental Release Measures

Ventilate area of leak or spill. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as specified in Section 8. Spills: Sweep up and containerize for reclamation or disposal. Vacuuming may be used to avoid dust dispersal.

VII. Handling and Storage

Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage. Keep away from water. Containers of this material may be hazardous when empty since they retain product residues (dust, solids);

observe all warnings and precautions listed for the product.

VIII. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Airborne Exposure Limits:

- OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) -
10 mg/m3 (TWA).
- ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV) -
5 mg/m3 (TWA), A4 - Not classifiable as a human carcinogen. Ventilation System:

A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employee exposures below the Airborne Exposure Limits. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area. Please refer to the ACGIH document, Industrial Ventilation, A Manual of Recommended Practices, most recent edition, for details.

Personal Respirators (NIOSH Approved):

If the exposure limit is exceeded, a half-face dust/mist respirator may be worn for up to ten times the exposure limit or the maximum use concentration specified by the appropriate regulatory agency or respirator supplier, whichever is lowest. A full-face piece dust/mist respirator may be worn up to 50 times the exposure limit, or the maximum use concentration specified by the appropriate regulatory agency, or respirator supplier, whichever is lowest. For emergencies or instances where the exposure levels are not known, use a full-facepiece positive-pressure, air-supplied respirator. WARNING: Air-purifying respirators do not protect workers in oxygen-deficient atmospheres.

Skin Protection:

Wear protective gloves and clean body-covering clothing.

Eye Protection:

Use chemical safety goggles and/or full face shield where dusting or splashing of solutions is possible. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area.
